About these works of art
Shapes surround us from the microscopic to what is visible to the human eye. Shapes are the basic building blocks of our world and Stewart Fletcher believes that they speak to us daily in a very intricate and subconscious way. In scientific experiments individuals have been found to consistently apply the same emotions to shapes and assigned emotions to static shapes based on the appearance of dynamic forces. In producing these paintings the artist also discovered that the interpretation of shape can also be conditioned through cultural learning and behaviors. We can all agree that one constant in all cultures and peoples is the notion of beauty in the natural world. Using the very basic materials of stone paper and raw pigments the artist explores these beautiful recurring natural shapes in a way that hopefully speak directly to the viewer.
