“Sometimes I return back to the state of mind I had as a child when I believed nothing was impossible.”
~ Jonathan Harnisch, When We Were Invincible ~
There will come a time where we must take stock of our lives. At some point we will need to get out our map to find out where exactly we are now. We may have to come to terms with who we have become and what has happened to us.
We all will eventually face the dichotomy of experience and innocence.
As artists we may have somehow managed to survive the scorched earth policies that are waged against our creativity and our calling. We may be at a point in our lives where we need to rebuild from the ashes.
We may fear that our innocence has been permanently destroyed in the fire. We may believe that nothing can be rebuilt from what remains. These untruths are what have kept us docile and enslaved for decades.
Experience may tell us that nothing can be fixed, repaired or transformed. Experience may even tell us that nothing and no one can ever change. Experience may keep us from living authentically.
As we stand at the crossroads looking at our maps it may be difficult to decide which way to turn. This is when we need to take a deep breath and remember who we were when we began this journey. We need to remember ourselves exactly as we once were. We need to shed the weight of experience and return to the age of innocence and invincibility!
You will discover just like I have that nothing has been lost.
Innocence and invincibility are alive and well.
They have never left us.
