Title: Calla Lily
Size: 48 H x 36 W inches
Medium: Oil on canvas
Calla Lily flowers have always fascinated me. The purpose of the calla lily is to bring beauty and to inebriate our senses with colors, smells and textures. We are all drawn to beauty and can appreciate it. Flowers in a space enhance the space, bringing beauty into it.
The calla lily was named after the Greek word for beautiful: calla. Symbolically calla lilies represent purity, holiness, and faithfulness. They are commonly seen in images of the Virgin Mary. They are also symbols for rebirth and resurrection, tied to the resurrection of Christ. As an artist they represent for me a profound spirituality, personal growth and creative evolution.
