Over the past year, I’ve read many books on spirituality. If I have learned anything, it’s about being truthful and speaking one’s mind; there’s been a lot on my mind. In the past, I’ve never really shied away from telling my truths, even though I was pretty sure no one was listening. It felt good to vent; sometimes, venting moved situations in the right direction or, at the very least, got stuff moving.

However, lately, instead of turning outward, I’ve been turning inward through a meditation practice.

This shift has made me an observer instead of constantly being the vehicle of change. I had decided at some point that I really couldn’t change much and convinced myself that I didn’t need to give a shit anymore. Let it go. It’s not worth it. They’re not worth it.

The message came through during the night that while trying to be a demilitarized zone may have its benefits in the short term, speaking up for what is right can and will have a more lasting effect.

Be the change you want to see, Stewart.

Will anyone listen?

No longer sure.
