“You pass people on the street, some are for you, some are not.”
~ Robert Henri, The Art Spirit ~
Trying to please others with the art you make should be the last thing on your mind. What is more important is that you push yourself deeper into the act of creation itself. It is all about finding your own “space” within the space that you are creating. It is about connecting to something greater than yourself. It is about immersing oneself in the intangible.
Doing the work has been my salvation. It is through the work that I become more connected with the higher source. It is only through the connection that one can evolve and find peace.
There will be those who will not understand the journey you’ve undertaken. People may even resent the joy you have found in life and may even try to dissuade you from your path. Some will attempt to make it very difficult for you as it has been with me. Mine has been the life of Job. I *believe* in the path. Even with the hardships and the precariousness of the present moment it is an excruciatingly *beautiful* way of living a life.
It is not the people on the street who matter. It isn’t important who is for you or against you. What is most important is the connection you have with the intangible and the connection you have with your work.
We do not choose the work. The work chooses us.
