“If you want to forget something or someone, never hate it, or never hate him/her. Everything and everyone that you hate is engraved upon your heart; if you want to let go of something, if you want to forget, you cannot hate.”
~ C. JoyBell C. ~
I know many of you will shudder when I say this, but having been raised a Christian, I was taught to move forward through the power of forgiveness, the forgiveness of others and forgiveness of myself.
For most of my life, I have had to move forward because there were never any opportunities to go back. When families, friends and organizations decide that you no longer belong, then you must move forward. There never really has been any other choice for me but to move forward.
Moving forward is an opportunity that is missed by many. People are so focused on the past that they fail to see opportunities in the present and the future. For most of my life, I was surrounded by individuals who are obsessively focused on perceived past wrongdoings and injustices. So much of their lives have been wasted seeking acknowledgement from others for what has happened to them.
Some people are so focused on the past are they that they fail to see and enjoy the beauty and improvements in their present lives. Even after a significant move forward, they are still obsessed with being right in the past instead of enjoying the beauty of the present. They feel a need to seek justice for some long-standing perceived wrong, and they want everyone to know what happened to them in the past. They think that resolving past issues is the only way that they can move forward even though they already have.
Forgiveness and gratitude are the first and only steps to freedom from the past.
Let go of the anger for a moment and look around you.
Look at the beauty of your life now.
Isn’t it wonderful?
